I keep surprising myself and coming back to this app.
App creators are bringing so many new and creative programs to the iPhone / Touch platform that it is difficult to find the gems. Bowls is a gem and deserves to move up the lists to the app store front page. It has certainly moved to the front page of my iPod Touch.

Singing bowls signal bliss is at hand

Bowls, from Oceanhouse Media, is a meditative masterpiece. Rather than having you sit back and relax, Bowls draws you into a state of mindfulness: You create your own music by drawing your fingers over a collection of beautifully designed Tibetan singing bowls and chimes.

“Bowls” ranked #7 in sales

Top 10 Music Apps“Bowls” is quickly becoming the little app that could. Just a few days ago, we realized that it was holding steady at the #7 spot within the Music category. We grabbed a screen shot and thought we’d share. In addition, we see it picking up in other markets now. It is rising on many of the charts outside of the US AppStore.

Designed as our first “test app” I can tell you that the entire team is very pleasantly surprised. We were not anticipating the current level of success.

Thanks again for all of the support. If you own the app and have taken the time to write a review on the AppStore, double thanks to you.

Currently, “Bowls” is ranked #8 in sales within the Music category. If we can get “Bowls” to be ranked #5 (or higher) within Music, we will enter the Top 100 list for all app sales (regardless of category). We have all read stories in the news about apps that hit the Top 100. Exposure gained by getting on this list can really launch an app to incredible heights. Want to help?

“Bowls” is ranked #10 in sales

Top 10 Paid Apps in MusicWe awoke this morning to find that “Bowls” had climbed to the #10 spot of all Paid Apps in the Music category. Yesterday, we were #21. The day prior, we were unranked. What a huge shift!

The iTunes AppStore is a very tough place to sell a product. In an ocean of 34,000 apps how does one go about getting noticed? Sure, we had a nice little sales bump when we first shipped “Bowls”, but it was short lived. Within a few weeks, “Bowls” was buried with all of the other apps struggling to get noticed.

Then it happened. Someone at Apple decided that they liked our app. With one chance decision we were placed on the front page of the AppStore and everything changed. Doors opened. Sales jumped.

My wife and I refer to this person as our “Apple Angel.” We have no idea who they are. We do, however, strongly believe that we have made the right decision to start this business. Events like this only reinforce that belief.

To whomever is enjoying “Bowls” at Apple and to all of those who continue to support Oceanhouse Media and spread the word of our products, we are grateful and we are thankful.
